Chasing Powder Since 2005: Rhythm Japan Turns 20

Back in 2005, when Matt Hampton first arrived in Niseko, the idea was simple: create a store that gave riders everything they needed to enjoy Japan’s unique snow, and spend as much time riding pow as possible.

Twenty years on, that philosophy hasn’t changed. Matt is still chasing turns whenever he can, and Rhythm Japan continues to operate with the same purpose, just on a much bigger scale.

From its early days in a renovated toilet block in Lower Hirafu, Rhythm has grown into one of Japan’s leading snow sports retailers and experience providers. Today, with eight store locations across the country, Rhythm offers one of the largest rental and retail fleets in Japan, expert services year-round, and hosts some of the biggest events on the snow calendar.

Here’s to 20 years of Rhythm Japan, and many more seasons of chasing powder.
